The Role
The Battery Assembly Team is looking for talented and self-driven individuals to fill our Manufacturing Responsible Engineer (MRE) Role focused on Electrical Components and Connections.
The MRE responsibility is to 'get the product right' and do so by delivering product designs that enable a flawless launch that meet GMs high quality specifications. Work is performed in a team environment where you will have daily interactions with Product Engineering (PE), Program System Engineers (PSEs) and Manufacturing Engineers (MEs).
This is a hybrid role with opportunities to work from home or on-site at any of the following state of the art Warren Tech Center, Battery Lab, Pre-Production Operations, and in plants like Factory Zero where our team is currently launching the Hummer EV. What You'll Do
- Ensure that engineered product designs are manufacturable and will meet cost, quality, and timing targets established. (Official approver of product designs utilizing the ECR (Engineering Change Release) system).
- Develop and drive implementation of MR's (Manufacturing Requirements) in product designs,
- Provide technical support to DRE (Design Release Engineer) and SQE (Supplier Quality Engineer) to enhance knowledge
- Lead Workgroups with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to resolve issues.
- Support and attend PMT (Product Management Team), PDT (Product Development Team) and Workgroups Meetings
- Partner with DRE's and EGM's (Engineering Group Managers)/Technical Specialists to develop Battery Bill of Design (BOD) and Bill of Process (BOP)
- Support simultaneous engineering for battery adhesives and component interfaces considering all aspects of manufacturing.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities
- 5+ years of professional manufacturing industry experience
- 2+ years of High Volume Manufacturing/Handling/Installing Electrical Components
- Demonstrated Strong skills in GD&T, part drawings, manufacturing quality
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
What will give you a competitive edge:
- Experience with Busbar, Header, and Harness Assemblies.
- Design for Automation Experience
- Design release experience
- Preferred 1+ years working with Product Engineering
- Preferred 1+ years of Battery Manufacturing or Design Experience
