ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a fast-paced, nonprofit startup on a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We already reach millions of students every month and are growing rapidly. We’re building a library of world-class instructional and practice resources that empowers learners. We localise our videos and exercises in multiple regional languages. We’re seeking a localisation manager to help build our math offering in Assamese.

ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY INDIA

Khan Academy India aims to deliver a world class user experience that is locally relevant to learners in India and is enabled by a strong on-the-ground team and operations. Our learning system is mastery based, which allows students to master key concepts at a pace that is right for them before moving on to more challenging content. From serving under 500,000 learners in 2016, we are now serving almost 4 million learners a month across our websites, apps and youtube channels. These learners include both independent learners accessing us at home and teacher directed learners in schools. Our focus is to reach the underserved by making our content  accessible in local languages and by working with large public school systems. Khan Academy is available in Hindi, Hinglish, Kannada, Gujarati, Bangla, Tamil and Punjabi.

ABOUT THE INDIA CONTENT TEAM

Our content team in India includes the content creators who make thousands of awesome videos, articles, and practice questions, aligned with the Indian curriculum, to help both teachers and students. We are actively working on content localization in multiple regional languages as well, which means the content you help create will reach a wider number (both nationally and globally), thereby multiplying the impact. 

WHY SHOULD I JOIN KHAN ACADEMY?

We have a unique mission to provide free localized world-class education to underprivileged kids. To do this, we aim to provide superpowers to teachers (mostly govt. teachers).I don’t think anything is more noble or fantastic than this in ed-tech. 

WHY MARATHI? 

More than 450 Maharashtra govt. Schools have registered with Khan Academy. What does that mean? You get to create a difference in the lives of 3000 teachers and their 90,000 students. Let those numbers sink in. 

WHAT’S THE ROLE?

• Translate Math & Science texts from English to Marathi. 

• Recreate Math & Science videos in Marathi. (We will teach you everything about video creation)

• Review existing content and find opportunities for improvements. 

• Interact with Maharashtra state teachers to collect feedback. 

WHAT SKILL SETS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

• Basic knowledge of Math and Science. (MUST)

• Ability to translate with high speed & accuracy.
  (So, a prior experience in Marathi translation is a MUST)

• Digital know-how (Using G suite, calendar, typing, etc.) (MUST)

• Tutoring/teaching experience in 6-12 (Nice to have)

HOW MUCH WILL I GET PAID? 

• About 17-18 LPA. 

WHO WILL I REPORT TO?

Mahesh Shenoy! Also, this is a full-remote role. But, we will occasionally miss you and ask you to travel and meet us. 

WHEN’S THE LAST DATE TO APPLY?
