Job Summary
The Marine Program Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining program management tools to support our marine divisions in achieving their strategic objectives. This role encompasses establishing and overseeing analytics to gauge program efficacy, highlighting and managing program risks, and ensuring cohesive operations across our shoreside teams and operating fleet.
Essential FunctionsBusiness Tools:
- Lead the development and maintenance of program management tools, such as dashboards for meeting targets.
- Regularly evaluate and maintain business tools to ensure they remain functional, practical, and secure.
- Implement and maintain work management tools (MS Planner, Trello, Monday).
- Conduct training sessions for marine operations staff to maximize their proficiency with new and existing business tools.
Marine Analytics:
- Implement analytical functions within business tools to capture insights on project performance, resource allocation, and cost efficiency.
- Track performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) for both operational goals and strategic objectives.
- Leverage existing company systems to garner insights and relevant data.
Program Management:
- Maintain a program risk register to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the program.
- Track program progress relative to goals and objectives, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and communicate status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Champion a consistent and effective way of working within the Marine Operations department.
- Plan and schedule program timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Define program success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties.
- Champion the rules of engagement within the department, ensuring adherence.
- Work closely with the onboard marine program specialist to ensure the right items are being worked on with the right insights
- Provide coordination capabilities to support marine operations, ensuring synergy across workstreams.
- Manage the departmental calendar to foster collaboration within divisions, departments, and between shipboard and shore-side teams.
- Manage stakeholder communication and regularly report on the program's progress, major milestones, and any existing or potential issues.
- Provide frequent updates to all relevant parties, ensuring transparency and ongoing alignment with program goals and corporate strategies.
CompetencyEducation
- Bachelorβs degree in business administration, Marine Management, or a related field.
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a management role, preferably within the marine or transportation sector
- Proven experience in marine or related industry program management is preferred
- A track record of putting in place and maintaining management processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities
- Proficient in the use of business and program management software
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Work Environment:
This role requires a blend of office, shipboard, and potentially shipyard environments. International travel may be required.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The role often requires flexible work hours, including working beyond regular business hours as necessary.
