Description
The C&I Customer Renewables Market Specialist is responsible for customer engagement and all aspects of renewable program design and development, including new program strategy and implementation, as well as management, reporting, and enhancement of existing programs. The position will provide technical and business support to help develop a comprehensive and effective approach to renewable program development. The position will also assist with the development and implementation of the Company's policies and guidelines related to Distributed Energy Resources and will be responsible for direct customer and solar stakeholder interaction, commercial and industrial customer education and economic analysis, and the development and maintenance of processes and tools to support effective program management that leads to an increase in customer awareness and customer satisfaction. The position will assist in representing Alabama Power's renewable efforts to external customers and industry groups and also be expected to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external parties.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the strategy, design, development, implementation, and all aspects of ongoing management of customer renewable programs, as well as future program research and design.
- Develop competitive intelligence related to renewables to identify best practices and trends in the industry
- Utilize strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills to be able to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; ability to convey information in a manner that is compelling and convincing; ability to engage individuals at all levels inside and outside the company.
- Serve as an interface for commercial and industrial customers and solar developers on behind-the-meter generation projects.
- Assist interested commercial and industrial customers by educating on all renewable programs
- Assist team leadership with general support of renewable programs including accurately tracking projects, assisting with program communication, preparing documents, updating processes, and more.
- Provide support and customer service to current and prospective solar customers by responding to routine and customer-specific inquiries and/or comments from commercial and industrial customers.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Marketing, or Economics highly preferred, additional consideration for master's degree and industry certifications.
- Strong knowledge in the areas of renewable energy technologies/programs/tariffs, generation economics, Power Delivery practices and policies related to interconnection, utility rates and pricing, economic and financial analysis, customer service/billing, and marginal cost.
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple organizations to achieve effective outcomes.
- Experience engaging with external parties and commercial and industrial customers
- Experience in supporting the development and implementation of plans to achieve company/business unit strategies
- Experience participating in cross-functional groups to develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to influence and communicate ideas effectively, verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and organization, with the ability to be adaptable
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to internal and external stakeholders
