Pine Gate Renewables is seeking a Market Strategy Associate to join our growing Market Analytics team. As the Associate, you will be a member of a cross-functional execution team accountable for the origination, development, power marketing and monetization of a portfolio of projects across the US. Under the Vice President of Strategy & Analytics direction, your functions will include coordinating across the different discipline teams to optimize project value, monitor and communicate changes to portfolio value and status, research and understand state, federal and RTO/ISO regulatory frameworks, and quantitatively model those impacts associated with project revenue streams. You will be capable of meeting high standards in a creativity driven environment.Â
What You’ll DoDevelopment Diligence
- Coordinate with internal teams on initiatives to creatively assess and explore potential for new market development, including conducting market and technology research and revenue analysis. Â
- Drive Project Siting efforts by analyzing opportunities and managing submissions to requests for analysis from internal departments with a lens for the future of the renewable industry. Â
- Develop quantitative tools and models in platforms such as Python, Excel, PROMOD or equivalent tools to understand impacts of policy changes on project dispatch, and to assess historical and future market impacts including production cost modeling, transmission expansion modeling, new trading strategies, and monetization of new revenue streams.  Â
Collaboration & Relationships Â
- Collaborate with Project Finance, Development, Grid Integration, and Project Siting team-members to optimize early-stage projects in advance of interconnection submissionÂ
- Network and manage relationships across the entire industry to find opportunities, find creative solutions, and drive value. Â
- 2-5 years of experience working in quantitative modeling in renewable energy, grid planning, or generation revenue modeling.Â
- Knowledge of wholesale energy markets.Â
- Creative thinking is a must. The ability to think outside the box to find and explore opportunities to solve problems.Â
- Excellent quantitative modeling, analysis, and communication skillsÂ
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, make decision, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.Â
- Strong work ethic, a high degree of detail orientation, and an extreme sense of urgency and organizationÂ
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s or PhD preferred with an academic interest in renewable energy market modeling preferred.
- Strong preference for those who are willing to work in Asheville, NC.
- Travel up to 50%, including travel to Asheville, NC if not living in the local area, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
