Job Description
Founded in 2013, Tidepool is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to making diabetes data more accessible, actionable, and meaningful for people with diabetes, their care teams, and researchers. Tidepool Loop is a project to build and support an FDA-regulated version of Loop, to be available in the iOS App Store, intended to work with commercially available insulin pumps and CGMs. Tidepool Loop is not currently available for use.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced instructional designer to join our team on a contingent 3-month full-time basis, with a potential option for extension. The instructional designer will be responsible for creating engaging and effective learning materials for various projects. This role requires strong instructional design skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams.
Please not that due to the nature of this role, candidates must be based in the United States and authorized to work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning courses, training modules, presentations, job aids, and other learning resources.
- Apply instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and best practices to create interactive and engaging learning experiences.
- Select and utilize appropriate instructional technologies and authoring tools to develop multimedia content.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure that learning materials meet established standards for accuracy, usability, and effectiveness.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet deadlines and project requirements.
- Communicate project status, progress, and challenges to project stakeholders as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in instructional design and learning.
- Utilize creative briefs to develop and design instructional videos, e-books and guides, marketing one-pagers, infographics, whitepapers, slide decks, and various other digital assets that creatively communicate Tidepool's brand style.
- Create layouts for user and clinician guides, brochures, impact reports, product catalogs, and other printed materials.
- Apply and advance established brand identity and related creative directions, ensuring consistency with brand positioning and marketing messages across multiple channels.
- A portfolio you can share and discuss that demonstrates your design practice and strong design background.
- Proven experience in instructional design and e-learning development.
- Has a fundamental understanding of typography, layouts, color usage, branding, photo styling and selection, and design style usage.
- Strong knowledge of brand and creative processes and digital best practices in design and communication.
- Basic knowledge of prepress processes and print production.
- Experience with one or more of the following: videography, graphic design, editorial print, instructional design.
Salary range and Benefits: This is a contingent full-time 3-month role with a potential option to extend. The hourly rate for the role is $33.65 to $52.88. Due to the nature of being a short-term role, this is a benefits-ineligible position.
