Your Opportunity

The Scion Group is looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual to add value to the Brand & Experience team. This position will focus on supporting Scion communities by assisting with creative services, growth marketing, reputation management, social media and interior design to improve the marketability of Scion’s student housing communities.

Scion’s internship program provides a unique opportunity for ambitious college students to learn, contribute, and gain real world work experience. Interns have the chance to learn more about Scion’s culture and business while developing practical skills necessary post-graduation. The 10-week program includes 1-on-1 guidance and timely feedback, development opportunities for soft skills and technical skills, spotlights on various functions outside of your team, mentorship relationships with company leaders and networking opportunities with colleagues. The program equips interns with an understanding of working in a professional environment dedicated to providing colleagues and communities with optimal support, expertise, and experience. 

At the end of your internship, you will have obtained the following experience:  

  • An understanding of Scion’s business and how the Brand & Experience function supports the business.
  • Basic knowledge of Scion’s internal technology and systems (such as our home-grown proprietary business intelligence software).
  • Experience presenting the identification of obstacles and solutions, implementation, and results to varying audiences.
  • How to effectively work with others and development of interpersonal relationships.
  • Networking and collaborating with peers, Scion colleagues and executive leadership. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Assists with monitoring incoming online reviews and feedback and facilitates responses through reputation management software.
  • Supports reputation repair initiatives.
  • Helps to improve portfolio reputation through facilitation of local feedback collection campaigns.
  • Maintains a pulse on online chatter about our communities’ reputation through Facebook pages, Instagram and other online social media platforms.
  • Assists with maintaining brand presence on Google My Business, Yelp, and other listing sites.
  • Ensures profile consistency of portfolio social media accounts through regular audits.
  • Participates in creative services and growth marketing initiatives to assist with the development of companywide campaigns.
  • Updates social platforms (bio, highlights, profile and cover photos, etc.) as new campaigns launch.
  • Assists with interior design project administration.
  • Contributes expertise and collaborates on various departmental brand initiatives, as required.

What We Require

  • A desire and eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or master's program with coursework in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Must be willing to work full-time for the full 10-week term of the program, beginning June 5, 2023.
  • Aptitude in developing proficient technology skills with social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, ClickUp, Entrata, and SOCi.
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required. We do not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • Successfully manages multiple projects and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Values and fosters a sensitive and supportive approach to a diverse working and living environment.
  • All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen.

Operational Details

  • Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters where you will be exposed to on-the-fly learning opportunities; Flexibility to work remotely one day a week.
  • Full-time hours; 10-week program.
  • Working hours are typically 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
  • Complimentary snacks and beverages in the office.
