Marketing Intern, Content (Fall 2023)

THE OPPORTUNITY:

VelocityEHS is accepting Co-op/Intern student applicants able to work up to 40 hours per week between the months of September -December for approximately 14-16 weeks.
The Marketing Intern, Content will work directly with the VelocityEHS Marketing team to assist with the development and enhancement of our marketing communication materials. This is a fast-paced internship within a fun and creative team. Mentorship from our team of experienced content managers will be a valuable benefit. Candidates must have a strong grasp of writing and editing and must be able to assist with writing, editing, updating, and repurposing content targeted at Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Sustainability, and other industry professionals for use online and in print that reflects and serves the company's larger strategic goals, messaging objectives, and brand. Additional duties may include performing industry research; data gathering around publications, CX, and partnerships; and summarizing competitor information to support the updating or development of new assets. This person will also be responsible for assisting with performing quality assurance checks and link testing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and functionality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

• Support the marketing content team in the production, proofing, and distribution of assets for a variety of communication channels and mediums including, but not limited to, the VelocityEHS website, digital publications, sales collateral, social media, presentations, and emails
• Draft and update articles and website copy to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and functionality requirements, and to support departmental and company-driven initiatives
• Research and understand emerging ESG & EHS news and topics to support the needs of the marketing content team
• Develop knowledge and skills around email marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, and use them to assist with driving email opens/clicks and website traffic
• Participate in content-related meetings, take notes and perform any necessary follow-up actions
• See projects through from start to finish, and measure and report on success
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in writing, journalism, marketing, or closely related field
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to multitask
• Basic-level skills using Microsoft Office product suite(primarily Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Calm under pressure, and ability to take accountability for outcomes and performance
• Must provide 2-3 writing samples

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience writing marketing and/or sales copy
• Experience creating/updating website content
• Experience using Adobe suite of products (primarily Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop)
• Experience writing content that is optimized for search engines
• Experience writing messages optimized for email marketing
• Experience writing articles for digital publications
• Experience using WordPress
• Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style or AP Style
