This Opportunity
Reporting into the Global Director Earth & Environment, this role will support the delivery of the Earth and Environment global growth strategy and will be responsible for devising, developing and implementing related marketing and communication strategies. Through the execution of both internal and external communications aimed primarily at enhancing the reputation of the E&E brand, as well as marketing and communications activities that create opportunities for deeper client engagement. You will work in close collaboration with the Global Brand and Marketing team to develop cross-cutting campaigns and align marketing plans.
You will have experience of working within a matrixed environment and executing communication plans that align global and regional priorities.
A core objective will be to raise WSP's brand profile in the Environment and Sustainability space and with key client groups, driving thought leadership out of the business in a variety of contexts and engaging our employees through interesting and enjoyable internal campaigns.
You will need to be strategic, passionate and innovative in order to successfully deliver results for the business. You will be confident to chair stakeholder meetings and pitch new ideas in a persuasive and engaging manner clearly articulating the benefits. You will build strong relationships with internal and external clients and deliver projects to a high standard.
Key stakeholders are based in various countries worldwide - particularly in the United States and you will be asked to travel within the country for face-to-face meetings on a regular basis.
Your Impact
Develop an integrated external and internal marketing and communication strategy to support the global Earth and Environment business strategy with a predominant focus in the US, Canada and Latin America markets, that underpins business growth, including raising profile & awareness, establishing a market position, increasing revenues & margins, balancing service portfolios and supporting retention and recruitment.
- Engage key business stakeholders in the development, adaptation and implementation of the global Earth and Environment marketing and communications strategy.
- Liaise with Regional Marketing teams to ensure alignment from the regions with the Global Marketing and Communications strategy and approach, ensuring consistency of messaging across channels and audience groups.
- Identify, develop and deliver marquee events to raise brand profile of WSP within the Environmental and Sustainability Industry, with a special focus on the USA, providing a clear focus to maximizing ROI.
- Deliver global marketing initiatives, finding innovative and appropriate ways to engage clients around key themes e.g. ESG, Future Ready, Water, Biodiversity, low-carbon economy transition, sustainable finance and business resilience.
- Identify local content that can be amplified globally to relevant audiences e.g. client impact stories, points of view, thought leadership.
- Provide strategic marketing advice on best to approach key commercial and business priorities.
- Support the Global Director of Earth and Environment with internal communications and engagement activities, working closely with the Global Internal Communications team.
- Advise on reputational issues within the Sector, working closely with the Global Media Relations team.
- Develop, track and manage annual budget for advertising and marketing events, memberships, and subscriptions.
- Ensuring compliance with regional regulations and cultural sensitivities in all marketing activities.
- Facilitate integration activities and drive growth, with special focus in critical markets (i.e. US, Canada and Latin America) by driving brand awareness, building relationships, and executing effective marketing strategies.
- Define and execute the marketing strategy to ensure a seamless integration of brand messaging and successful integration of target audiences.
- Lead and oversee the strategic and tactical initiatives that protect and enhance the value of the brand during and after the transfer process. This includes developing and implementing strategies to maintain brand consistency, preserving brand reputation, and ensuring the smooth transition of the acquired brand.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing and communication strategies with the overall integration plan.
- Analyse market trends and competitive landscape to ensure the merged organization remains competitive and relevant.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and distributors, to ensure smooth integration and cooperation.
- Lead and inspire the Marketing and Communications team.
- Promote collaboration across team as well as with regional counterparts.
- Share best practices and drive consistency in approach and quality.
- Coordinate annual performance review process for team and proactive take actions to attract and retain top talent.
- Actively participate in hiring process.
- Ensure feedback mechanisms and data analytics are in place to monitor audience engagement and ROI, adjusting communication approaches as necessary and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
- Manage resource requirement through engagement with external agencies / contracting resources on an ad hoc basis.
Required Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in leading and implementing marketing & communications strategies, preferably within a professional services environment (or other relevant sector)
- Strong interpersonal skills and significant experience in working with senior leadership teams and other key stakeholders.
- Demonstrable track record of successful project delivery and project management with multiple stakeholders
- The ideal candidate will leverage their corporate knowledge and deep understanding of the company's goals, products, and services to develop and implement effective marketing strategies that drive growth.
- Having a deep understanding of critical markets is essential for the Director of Marketing to effectively drive growth and increase brand awareness in the USA, Canada and Latin America
- Extensive experience of engaging clients through the full marketing mix
- Expert verbal and written communication skills with proven credentials and examples
- Strong knowledge and abilities to use multiple platforms and channels (including digital) for a range of audiences.
- Strong knowledge of marketing and communication technologies and tools
- Excellent project management skills, analytical and business acumen
- Strong people management skills
- Passion for using marketing to solve problems and a natural curiosity.
- Curiosity & interest in commercial aspects of the business, such as sustainability, climate change, low carbon etc.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel - to time and budget.
- Clear understanding of business needs, priorities and where to allocate marketing spend for the best return.

Expected Salary: $79,500 - $182,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
