Job Description
We are seeking an experienced (Senior) Marketing Manager to join our fast-paced team. You will work closely with many senior leaders across the organization, including Research, Brand, Communications, Design and Product. This role will collaborate with the Head of Experiential Marketing and Design Director to define the Morningstar Investment Conference (MIC) global brand strategy and serve as brand champion for the MICs, working closely with the live squad and local marketing and event teams to execute the experience consistently across digital platforms and at in-person MICs. This role will own the strategic marketing plan for the flagship Morningstar Investment Conference in Chicago. This position reports to the Head of Experiential Marketing.
Job Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Head of Experiential Marketing, set annual and long-range conference revenue and experience goals.
- Develop strategic marketing plan for the flagship Morningstar Investment Conference in Chicago to support annual revenue and attendance goals as well as experience goals.
- Manage MICUS marketing budget to drive ROI and meet attendance and revenue goals.
- Standardize marketing resources and processes for global MICs to support a consistent brand experience; maximize scale and team resources.
- Work with the marketing associate (MDP) on the execution of the MICUS marketing plan.
- Assist MDP and junior team members in the development and implementation of dashboards to monitor and track key MIC marketing results and metrics.
- Manage relationship with the sales team to support MICUS registration goals, create sales incentives.
- Primary point of contact for marketing agreements with outside media companies to develop effective promotions and partnerships for MICUS.
- Collaborate with the communications and social media team to develop cross-channel media plans for MICUS, including paid, owned, and earned engagement. Maximize ROI of MIC budget.
- Identify new audience opportunities to grow conference attendance and support DEI goals. Develop effective marketing campaigns to target these specific audiences.
- Active participant in the MICUS agenda committee to contribute speaker ideas and reflect corporate themes, marketing messages and support DEI goals.
- Develop communication plans and resources to engage with speakers and other industry influencers to drive engagement and attendance for MICUS.
- Develop and manage post-conference communication and engagement plan with attendees.
- Oversee competitive conference market research, analytics, and data-based insights to develop effective positioning and pricing and drive successful marketing tactics.
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of marketing management experience with a strong business acumen
- Bachelors' degree preferred with a concentration in marketing or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
- Outstanding creative and strategic thinker
- Skilled collaborator with the ability to direct and inspire integrated teams
- Ability to lead data-driven marketing teams and plans
- Experience developing marketing analytics strategies and managing programs in rigorous, measurable ways
- Experience using and maximizing martech solutions; Cvent experience a plus
- Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
- Strategic brand, product and/or service marketing experience preferred
- Experienced in traditional and digital marketing, social media, and experiential marketing
- Strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Budget development and management experience
- High level of initiative and exceptional problem-solving skills
- A positive outlook with the passion for making things better at every opportunity
