Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our new home houses fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. 

We are seeking an innovative Marketing Manager to develop, implement and execute strategic marketing plans for Powerhouse new and ongoing programming. We are looking for someone whose expertise translates into increased brand awareness and profitability. This role will be reporting to the Co-Executive Director of Programs & Partnership.

Responsibilities:

Internal Communications & Reporting

  • Consolidation of and reporting on internal Powerhouse activities across programming (fabrication, public art, and education) for assessment of key marketing needs and possible PR opportunities
  • Ideation and development of key marketing and PR “milestones” that require outreach and PR support by external consultants
  • Lead Featured Project series and liaison with artist experience team and fabrication programs, provide final approval
  • Project management and team-wide progress reporting of Communications and Marketing work

Marketing Support & Digital Client Communications

  • Liaise with Powerhouse Steward (tenants) and key Community Engagement Partners to ensure they and their audiences are factored into pertinent news, receiving community-wide invitations, and kept apprised of wider Powerhouse activities
  • Manage and maintain email marketing, from concept development and technical build to deployment and analysis as well as testing creative, content, and copy
  • Development (support), editing, and management of social media content strategy, liaising with PR consultant to ensure content strategy and calendar are aligned with organization activities
  • Work with staff to maintain existing marketing programs and develop new campaigns
  • Implement and distribute key marketing protocols with staff to maintain social media profiles according to Powerhouse brand guidelines
  • Maintain, change, and improve content on website, including coordinating with internal teams to update imagery, text, and products
  • Coordinate with various departments to implement respective web needs accordingly
  • Support Powerhouse public event promotion and activation

Media Management

  • Archive, organize, and consolidate Powerhouse assets including photography, drone footage, video, audio, and behind the scenes content in the organization’s database 
  • Maintain digital archive of newsletter content
  • Ongoing coordination of content, including development of new content for social media platforms, public relations activities, and web updates, etc.

Contact Building & Database Management

  • Implement CRM protocols and coding of existing database 
  • Develop organization and coding strategy for future contacts 
  • Leverage platforms like Airtable or Salesforce to funnel newsletter sign-ups and incoming inquiries into respective contact lists in database 
  • Liaise with departments within Powerhouse Arts to cull past, present, and prospective client lists, industry contacts and other key constituents that should be added to Powerhouse’s database
  • Liaise with Development Director to aggregate potential benefactor and patron contacts and code them appropriately (ensure they are only receiving appropriate correspondence and mailings)  
  • Regular (weekly/monthly) contact audits to ensure new contacts are uploaded into the appropriate CRM database
  • Research potential new community partners, affinity groups, other organizations and contacts that would benefit from introduction to Powerhouse and addition to our database

  • Experience in marketing, business administration, journalism, or communications
  • Experience implementing successful marketing strategies for diverse audiences
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in a marketing or communications role
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, in particular) and ability to quickly learn internal software(s)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Website management, HTML experience a plus
  • Proven track record of successful project management
  • Up to date on the latest trends and features in digital marketing
  • Must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced atmosphere
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range is $90,000-$110,000 and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, an employer-sponsored retirement plan, generous paid vacation, and a CitiBike membership.
