POSITION TITLE: Marketing Specialist

POSITION REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Brand Management and Marketing Operations

POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS ROLE: N/A

LOCATION: Crystal Mountain, Enumclaw, Washington. Hybrid work up to 2 days per week remote possible.

WAGE: $67,724.80 to $83,000

JOB SUMMARY:

As the Marketing Specialist, you will work closely with different teams to create and execute marketing initiatives that resonate with the target market and increase sales. To be successful as an Marketing Specialist, you should have a good understanding of consumer behavior, be up to date on market trends, and continuously monitor competitor activity. This position will be integral in co-developing and implementing annual marketing plans and activities that increase brand value, achieve company OKRs, and drive consumer engagement. You will also be responsible for budget tracking, social media, retargeting campaigns, facilitating research, collating, and analyzing data, reporting on brand performance and brand marketing administrative duties.

This role's primary function is to support the brand marketing efforts at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

GENERAL

  • Maintain, follow, and enforce brand guidelines.
  • Social media collaboration with Communications team.
  • Co-develop and implement promotions, paid advertising plan and retargeting campaigns to specific audiences.
  • Build relationships with companies and influencers that align with the Crystal brand.
  • Aggregate content from all departments around the resort (including: restaurants, ski and ride)
  • External agency co-management and collaboration on various initiatives including but not limited to paid advertising, communications including organic social media and the ambassador program at times when an external agency is engaged in work with the company.

LEADERSHIP

  • Fluency in the Crystal Mountain brand and ownership of brand and campaign-style guide updates as it evolves YOY.
  • Guide, create, and ensure consistency across the resort as it relates to look, feel, voice, and position.
  • Disseminate and educate on the brand and style guides to cross-channels, agencies, and media partners and ensure that they have a solid understanding and adherence of the guidelines.
  • Daily responsibility to review the marketing assets posted by cross-channels on Asana or in Communications Plans and provide feedback from a "branding" perspective.
  • Assist the Sr. Manager of Marketing in reviewing select ad, brand communication and design assets and ensuring that they meet the communication objective and production specifications.
  • Create and provide signage within brand guidelines to all department leaders and staff.
  • Coordinate with Creative Services Specialist to create new "easy to use" signage templates within brand guidelines.
  • Respond to department and cross-functional requests for marketing support in a timely manner.
  • Work with department leaders to maintain standards as it relates to guest experience, including but not limited to uniforms, nametags, email signatures, verbal communications, visual communication, etc.

PLANNING

  • Co-Develop and execute annual marketing plan in collaboration with Marketing and Sales VP, Director of Sales, Sr. Manager of Brand, Communications and external agencies.
  • Co-Develop and execute annual communications plan including organic social media in collaboration with VP of Marketing and Sales, Director of Sales, Sr. Manager, Communications and external agencies.
  • Review the paid media plans and create an ad deliverables list, allocate resources, and create project requests using the existing creative workflow process.
  • Generate retargeting campaigns, analyze results and optimize
  • Develop a weekly/bi-weekly Brand/Communications meeting to discuss the status of internally produced assets and provide any additional direction that is needed to complete projects.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions with the Digital/Creative and Strategy teams to help support marketing initiatives and projects that are requested by the Brand Team and/or internal cross-channels (these include organic social ideas, event activations, swag items, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Snow Reporter/Communications Specialist from a communications standpoint, ensuring their messaging aligns with brand standards.

ANALYTICS

  • Conduct regular Crystal Mountain (department) audits to make sure that their content is brand-compliant with the assets that are provided to them.
  • Review ongoing consumer research and media analytics documents and make recommendations to your supervisor on how to optimize ad assets and marketing initiatives that you are managing.
  • Co-own and manage the customer journey and improvements as it relates to consumer engagement, Net Promoter Score and Medallia analytics.
  • Conduct competitor audits that will provide insights into brand positioning and new campaigns and promotions that will serve as a reference for identifying competitive points of difference (POD) and opportunities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONISBILITES:

  • Ambassador Program: The Marketing Specialist will facilitate the development, seasonal deliverables and ongoing success of the Athlete Ambassador Program and Junior Ambassador Program. This also includes working with the Creative Services Specialist on content needs and working with the Ambassador team to deliver specific content for brand and marketing projects. The role will set clear expectations, provide a schedule for all ambassadors, create and update the activity tracker and share feedback periodically throughout the season.
  • Snow Reporter/All-Seasons On-Site Communications: This position will also be responsible to be the on-site Snow Reporter/Communications Specialist function ~2 days per week or less during the Communication Specialist day's off. Responsibilities include being on-mountain, writing and updating supporting information on the website and social media as it relates to conditions, experience, and other information being externally displayed or distributed as well as mountain HD displays, signage and other guest communication needed on-mountain.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, branding, graphic design, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in advertising and/or marketing experience in a corporate brand or ad agency role.
  • Experience in ski, travel & tourism, or hospitality, with a proven marketing capability for these industries a plus.
  • Experience leading projects with cross-functional teams from different departments.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and be open to feedback and daily optimization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with modest supervision.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and handle many projects at once.
  • Project management and problem-solving skills a must.
  • Ability to think creatively and big picture while aligning brand and company goals.
  • Ability to own the brand identity of Crystal and, when speaking from or positioning, exclude any personal views, beliefs, or opinions that do not fall within the brand guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimal travel required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices, and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
