Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM has an opening for a Marketing Writer to help bolster its team assigned to the US Federal Market a strategic growth market for IBM globally. The Marketing Writer will play a major role in crafting messaging that aligns with IBM global branding and messaging frameworks while tailoring those messages to the US Federal government audience – clients and partners.
The Marketing writer will have experience writing for print and the web. Content will be used at early and late funnel stages and will be heavily focused on IT modernization products and services targeted toward IBM’s US Federal Government clients current and prospective. We seek a highly creative individual who loves using the written word to convey complex concepts using plain language that inspires the reader to action. You have a style that is professional yet your own. You are able to interpret and execute on ideas given to you as well as generate and promote your own ideas. You have strong inter-personal skills be able to participate in group creative sessions and present your ideas confidently. You are also innately curious and willing to do the research necessary to understand complex business processes and technical solutions so you can create easily understood content.
In your new position you will develop creative content for sales and event collateral create thought leadership pieces and web copy and draft video scripts from time to time. You’ll be part of a small but powerful team that plays a huge role in optimizing the US Federal website to support the growth of this strategic market for IBM. You will report directly to the Director of Marketing Strategy.
• Drafting copy for a variety external publications and formats using plain language principles for web and print media
• Adhering to IBM’s brand tone style and messaging frameworks
• Supporting the development and maintenance of IBM’s US federal website copy as updates and refreshes are conducted
• Writing scripts for corporate videos
• Drafting award nominations for teams or executives as warranted
• Supporting other administrative marketing department tasks as assigned
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• At least five (5) years of writing experience in a professional environment ideally tailored toward emerging technology solutions for the US Federal Government
• Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail and flawless grammar punctuation spelling and consistent adherence to style
• Proven ability to work independently to complete multiple ongoing projects in a time-sensitive environment while maintaining high levels of customer service and quality
• The ability to confidently interview and dig deep with subject matter experts to elicit the content needed to achieve the objectives of the content being written. This includes doing the necessary research to be informed prior to interviews.
• Strong team player with experience working in a team environment (dedicated and matrixed) to balance multiple inputs objectives and success criteria to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and the demonstrated ability to identify and raise proactively and productively issues concerns and process refinements
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Experience with Adobe products to assist in document design and layout and editing simple graphics (e.g. Adobe InDesign Adobe Illustrator)
• Experience working for a federal contractor in a similar capacity to this role
