MARYLAND SERVICE CORPS MEMBER TITLE: Maryland Corps- Community Connector, OutreachÂ
LOCATION: Baltimore, MD and Silver Spring, MD (one Corps Member based out of Baltimore campus, and one based out of Silver Spring campus)
STATE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR: Per Scholas/Maryland Corps Lead (Baltimore Managing Director)
REPORTS TO: Campus recruitment and admissions leads at Baltimore and Silver Spring (direct supervisors)Â
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
In this role, you will assist in cultivating a pipeline of applicants to both the Baltimore and NCR campuses, and assist in implementing the outreach and enrollment process in our Maryland market. The Community Connector will promote Per Scholas’ mission to prospective learners through targeted community outreach, recruitment, and digital engagement. As an integral component of the learner experience, you will help build and refine our processes, and help establish our brand as a valued and sought after IT training program in Maryland.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Recruitment & Admissions
- Assist in creating and implementing a rigorous recruitment and outreach process throughout its entire lifecycle, ensuring targets and benchmarks for recruitment and admissions are achieved each cycle.
- Build and support a social media marketing strategy as a tool to promote learner enrollment.
- Plan or attend community outreach events to promote Per Scholas to potential applicants particularly in communities impacted by the digital divide.
- Conduct presentations and administer off-site information sessions.
- Identify relationships with referral partner organizations to sustain a pipeline of candidates with a focus on mutually beneficial long-term partnerships.
- Participating in face-to-face candidate interviews, as needed.
- Communicate with prospective learners while quickly building rapport and trust.
- Make referrals to supportive services and/or alternative programs for applicants, as appropriate.
- Implement retention activities (Meetups, networking opportunities, etc.) for specific alumni populations including women, young adults, and people of color.
Data Management
- Assist in ensuring data pertaining to stakeholder groups (applicants, learners, volunteers, community-based organizations, etc.) is accurately entered into Salesforce in a consistent and timely manner.
- Use Salesforce to track analytics in order to strategically focus time and resources.
- Produce reports to track and document both progress and outcomes.
- Keep recruitment and enrollment data organized in Salesforce, particularly as related to organizational goals and grant deliverables.
- Think strategically to recognize data and trends and suggest improvements in a start-up environment.
Other Projects:
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Provide telephone coverage as needed.
- Assist with coordinating class in-person orientations and in-person graduations.
- Work cross-functionally with a willingness to “get things done” while promoting a collaborative work environment.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor and/or Maryland Corps Per Scholas lead.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience)
- Experience in digital marketing (social media) and/or community outreach.Â
- Strong technical aptitude (Google Sheets/Excel, Slides/PowerPoint,, Salesforce, HubSpot, Canva, and Sakari etc), project management, and organizational skills with detailed follow-through abilities.
- Excellent written communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Strong data management skills.
- Prior knowledge or background in IT (if minimal, a desire and willingness to learn what’s needed) and a passion for technology is a plus.
