Background

At New Business Audio we develop IP Audio devices. We also develop an audio distribution system where audio content can be configured for synchronized playback in a group of speakers. Furthermore, we also from time to time handle customer cases where on-site issues reported have been escalated to our department. The information available for these cases vary greatly and neither physical or remote access to the devices are guaranteed which can make it difficult to track down the core issue.
 

Goals

Investigate and develop a suitable method to perform syslog analysis to sort out noise and find anomalies.

Key questions could be, but not limited to:

• How can a method for syslog analysis be developed to effectively filter out noise and detect anomalies in system log data?
• What techniques and / or protocols can be leveraged to achieve this?

Educational background

Master’s student in computer science engineering or similar.

Useful skills

Experience with development on Linux, C, data analysis, embedded systems
