POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Planner will coordinate with operations, engineering, purchasing and quality to attain production goals to meet customer ship dates. Maintain inventory levels to targets and work to continuously improve processes/systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  1. Associate's degree, plus 2-3 years' related experience. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  2. ERP/MRP system experience required, SAP experience preferred.
  3. Ability to develop sales forecasts on a monthly basis based on releases from the customer(s). Experience with scheduling finished good production lines.
  4. Strong written, verbal communication skills and project management skills including conduct meetings, preparing correspondence, assisting customers, etc.
  5. Proficient with spreadsheet software, electronic mail, and manufacturing systems in order to perform job duties
  6. Organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in order to meet departmental needs, solve routine problems, make effective decisions, and perform various tasks with changing priorities and deadlines in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  7. Understand and utilize basic continuous improvement techniques, bill of material and accounting functions, etc.

DUTIES:
  1. Develop and update weekly production schedules. Track capacity levels based on current commitments. Responsible for updating appropriate areas as to the status of schedules and the impact of material shortages. Work with co-workers to ensure material, component, and part availability, etc.
  2. Review, interpret, process customer orders and change requests. Reconcile order discrepancies with customers. Prepare orders manually and enter into order entry system.
  3. Verify bill of material and routing accuracy and coordinate data base administration.
  4. Serve as a liaison, providing customer service support by interfacing with customers, discussing customer orders, needs, problems, and coordinate customer needs with appropriate departments. Monitor shipments, communicate daily priorities with team leaders. Resolve customer purchase order, production, and shipment discrepancies as required.
  5. Maintain and establish correct inventory of finished goods. Analyze and coordinate the purchase of components in support of master production schedule. Assist in company obsolescence and disposition process.
  6. Monitor actual performance and track key measurable related to customer on-time, schedule completion, and inventory.
  7. Sequence and distribute visual pull systems used to ensure level production.
  8. Maintain and manage finished goods storage areas to a min/max level.
  9. Set up shipments (i.e. arrange trucks) and cut orders to support business needs. Coordinate logistics routes with customers' logistics providers to ensure uninterrupted, timely flow of finished goods to customer assembly facilities. Negotiate responsibility for premium transportation with customers to minimize financial risk.
  10. Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
