Materials Handler

Vast is looking for a Materials Handler, reporting to the Manager of Supply Chain, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located primarily in our Long Beach location and support our Hawthorne location.  As a Materials Handler, you will play a vital role in helping lift large assemblies, moving material to/from saw cut to staging in manufacturing, and assisting with vendor deliveries.

Responsibilities: 

• Primary forklift operator for shipping and receiving, inventory and manufacturing
• Responsible for the flow and movement of materials to and from the factory
• Package, stage and ship finished goods
• Expedite critical shipments
• Take the initiative to resolve materials related issues with interaction from supervisor/manager
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control of material stores including finished goods and raw materials 
• Clear understanding and certification of dangerous goods / hazardous materials handling and shipping 
• Clean drivers record and able to operate delivery trucks
• Make and receive deliveries of materials to and from local suppliers using company vehicle
• Assist with fleet operations as needed
• Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers and suppliers
• Assist with cycle counting and inventory control as needed
• Assist with material kit pulling and ERP issuance
• Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions
• Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage and near misses to the appropriate channels 
• May be asked to be available at various times due to special shipments at any time of the day

Minimum Qualifications:

• Forklift Certification
• Hazmat training 
• Clean driving record
• Experience operating in an aerospace environment

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with facilities within an aerospace industry
• Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
• Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
• Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
• Ability to read and understand basic floor plans
• Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time in a company vehicle
• Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted

Pay Range: 

• Materials Handler I: $19.50-$24.00
• Materials Handler II: $23.00-$28.00
