Objective & Scope
Supervise and coordinate all Purchasing, Production Control and Logistics activities between Suppliers and Customers and all areas of organization i.e.: Operational, Program Managers and/or other divisional designates. All aspects & functions involved in Materials; Customer Service, Shipping, Receiving and Purchasing and the effectiveness and productivity of the Materials department, supporting the production, engineering and quality organizations of the division.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Purchasing and Production Control & Logistics functions with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, Logistics cost and Inventory Turns, utilizing the sources vented out by MPT corporate Purchasing and Supplier Development.
  • Lead development strategic supply chain for the division
  • Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology
  • Supports quote process to customer and works with Program Manager at early stage of Program definition
  • Assist in processing design changes requests and be a part of the change management team until PPAP
  • Provide supplier launch readiness to program management on a regular base
  • Participate in simultaneous engineering meeting and forward status and open issues to Program team
  • Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually searching for and participate in re-negotiating cost savings on new sourcing opportunities, with current and / or new suppliers.
  • Ensure suppliers respond appropriately to the program management requirements including issues of delivery, cost or quality up to PPAP.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling of material procurement.
  • Responsible to Manage production scheduling to ensure continuous meeting of customer requirements.
  • Responsible for calculating all material purchasing requirements based on the quantity on hand, forecasted requirements, manufacturing lead times, purchasing lead times. Maintain and update MRP and release data system.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficient levels of inventory are maintained at all times and customer requirements are met.
  • Responsible for all shipments in-out of the building to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
  • Maintain Supplier Web and MRP system by ensuring cycle counts are accurate and done in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for customers' satisfaction through delivery, service and quality. Ensures that Materials Department works efficiently with all departments to coordinate movement of product to meet customer requirements. Prepare daily and weekly releases for all material suppliers, (packaging, steel, components, etc.), to ensure that customer requirements are met. Ensure all releases are sent in timely manner and ASN's are received from suppliers upon shipment of goods.
  • Responsible for expediting product required as needed and ensure that shipping department works with Production Supervisors, Purchasing, Quality Assurance Department and other departments as necessary.

Education & Experience
  1. BS Degree required with a business or technical emphasis
  2. 10+ years of experience in Purchasing, Production Control or Accounts Payable (Finance) or related field within a manufacturing facility in automotive industry.
  3. Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.
  4. Proven understanding, planning and execution of production schedules
  5. Familiarity in automotive engineering, including various levels of exposure and strategic experience with: product design, product development, and product validation.
  6. Familiarity in sheet metal forming solutions is preferred.
  7. Proven experience as a consensus builder as a supervisor.
  8. Finely developed internal and external customer service capabilities.
  9. Consistent ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables while treating team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee's Charter, which includes a commitment to fair treatment and a safe and healthful workplace.

Additional Skills
Language Skills: Requires extensive tact and communication skills (verbal and written) for direct customer communication . Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate basic math, understanding of decimals, ability to add, subtract and multiply.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use problem solving when presented with problems or duties that do not have immediate answers or results.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have in depth knowledge and experience with CMS - ERP System, AS400, White Board Scheduler, Microsoft Office, MS Project and Visio (Current Version)
