Tendeg LLC is a premier spacecraft deployables company. Our novel designs are enabling exciting missions providing high gain antennas for sensor applications and communications. We have multiple antennas on-orbit and numerous flight deliverables occurring in 2022. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar; and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. Title: Materials and ProcessĀ Engineer
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

About the Role:
We are looking for multiple M&PĀ Engineers that will support one of the following programs:
- INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission-Ā to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models.
- SDC: NASA has selected Tendeg to develop a large rectangular aperture deployable antenna for a Surface Deformation and Change mission. The baseline antenna is 7x1.4m and operates at C-band and will need to demonstrate TRL6 by the end of 2022. - 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO to lunar applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge of standard and non-standard materials and processes for space flight to the development of spacecraft deployable structures, pointing mechanisms, RF antennas, and electronics.
- Develop, evaluate, select, and document materials and processes to meet the engineering requirements for aerospace environments.
- Communicate with peers and customers to demonstrate compliance with Materials and Processes Selection, Control, and Implementation Plan program requirements.
- Perform material analysis of components, systems, subsystems.
- Review/approve vendor-designed, off-the-shelf, and vendor-furnished items for compliance with M&P program requirements.
- Define, plan, and execute materials and process investigations/analyses
- Work with cross-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce aerospace hardware.
- Ā Lead material process/qualification documentation, internal/external readiness reviews, etc.
- Work closely with raw material, specialty procedure, and final product suppliers as needed, and maintain excellence in material/process/product quality.
- Maintain Materials and Identification Usage Lists for the program(s). Consult with customer organizations (e.g. project, engineering, production, integration and test, etc.) on use of such materials and processes.
- Specify materials and perform or direct laboratory tests on samples of such materials.
- Review development and production documentation (e.g. drawings) to ensure materials and process requirements are met and implemented.
- Analyze data and generate reports on the results tests.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Key Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with qualifications of parts, materials, or processes for space applications.
- B.S. in Material Science Engineering, or engineering related field
- Demonstrated experience with M&P signatory authority including expertise in one more of the following subject areas: metallics, heat treatments, surface finishes, non-metallics, materials testing, and/or electronics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead material and process design investigations, and apply information obtained from laboratory test data.
- Familiarity with NASA, military or industry specifications, especially materials test (e.g. ASTM) procedures.
- Prior participation in NASA and DoD programs with material review boards.
