Summary

The Maternal/NICU Program Designation Coordinator (Coordinator) is a registered nurse who has the authority and responsibility to monitor the provision of maternal patient care services from admission, stabilization, operative intervention if applicable, through discharge, and inclusive of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. The Coordinator is responsible for project oversight, management, ongoing maintenance and compliance with state regulation requirements for the hospitals Maternal Designation for obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) services and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) services.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Licensed as a Registered Nurse as accepted by Texas State Board of Nursing to engage in professional nursing. Graduate of an accredited nursing program and matriculated in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with graduation within two years of appointment Minimum of 3 years of experience in an area of maternal child health in an accredited institution. Leadership and project management skills or self-directed programing outreach education teaching in perinatal services or applicable experience. Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to work effectively and collaboratively with the leadership team and staff. Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities necessary in order to evaluate delivery of care systems and nursing outcomes. Able to work independently as well as within teams. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Certification requirements as defined by the certification policy. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Proficient using Microsoft Office, Excel, ad PowerPoint. Organization skills with strong attention to detail.

PREFERRED Bi or Multilingual. Master's degree in Nursing, or higher 5 years of experience in a critical care area in an accredited institution. National Certification as recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center
