MBA Associate, Strategy & Investments

Sony Music is seeking a Strategy & Investments Summer MBA Associate in New York. The program runs for approximately 12 weeks and will begin in late May or early June 2023.  

As an MBA Associate, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that cover the full spectrum of the digital media marketplace, including assessing and refining strategic initiatives, identifying market trends that may impact Sony Music, and evaluating potential investment opportunities in music business start-ups. Your role will have direct influence on industry developments and data-driven, strategic initiatives that benefit Sony Music’s business and artist roster. 

• Summarize music and broader media/entertainment industry trends and create deliverables to share learnings throughout Sony Music.
• Monitor the digital media landscape to identify potential strategic opportunities for Sony Music and turn those insights into visually compelling presentations and memos targeted to a specific audience.
• Evaluate potential investments that fit within Sony Music’s strategic focus areas.
• Prepare data-driven analyses, including market size assessments, benchmark analyses, competitive landscapes, etc.

• Currently enrolled in a top-tier MBA program.
• Passionate about the music industry and deeply interested in the future of music as it intersects with consumer and technology trends.
• Savvy with data, demonstrating advanced Excel modeling and analytical skills.
• Exceptional at building compelling presentations and visualizing data.
• A self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, who is pro-active, organized, efficient and detail oriented.
• Background in consulting or corporate strategy and experience working in media/entertainment a plus.
• Understanding of the global digital media landscape with an informed view of where the industry is headed.

The anticipated base salary per hour for this position is $45. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
