Head of Advice Integration & Methodology

The Advice & Strategy Experience Team is a part of the Digital & Client Experiences business unit of TIAA. The Advice & Strategy Experience Team leads the advice offer and client experience strategy of TIAA while strengthening enterprise advice measurement, methodology and delivery capabilities.

Reporting to the SMD, Head of Advice & Strategy Experience, the MD, Head of Advice Integration & Methodology is an Enterprise-wide leader role responsible for alignment and leading Advice integration into initiatives that have a direct impact on TIAA's advice offerings. The role will be responsible for effective solutioning of advice offerings across TIAA's investment products, distribution, usage of advice engine, methodology, and experiences. This leader will be viewed as the subject matter expert in methodology from the lens of participant needs and outcomes, ranging across their life stage journey from accumulation through decumulation. This team will work across all of the LOBs and functions, not just limited to Retirement Solutions, Product & Business Development, Wealth, and Nuveen. The team will also oversee key business management of advice platforms (e.g., Morningstar, income discovery), tools and experiences, especially as it relates to growth in 401(k) markets.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead how Advice integrates into an enterprise product continuum (managed account, default investment solutions, 401K investment offering)
  • Lead the methodology engagement model and operations representing Advice point of view
  • Develop a long-term vision, roadmap, and execution plan for Advice methodology including how supporting platforms / tools will evolve with that vision
  • Lead vendor relationship and model of execution (e.g., Morningstar)
  • Partner with Product & Business development group, along with peers like Advice Product Management, on the creation and maintenance of integrated planning, roadmaps, and operating models across products and tools
  • Build and foster credibility; serve as a trusted partner within the AS&E organization, across D&CX, as well as with external partners and peers

  • 15+ years of advice integration and methodology experience
  • Proven ability to influence horizontally with the ability to execute and drive outcomes
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence in a matrixed environment while also generating credibility
  • Exceptional influencing skills with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Successful track record as a change leader in a large and complex environment
  • Ability to communicate a compelling vision and inspire others to deliver on an ambitious, complex roadmap

  • Strong team management and team building skills. Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring managers and individual contributors, as well as developing talent and upgrading craft skills

Base Pay Range: $206,150/yr. - $258,400/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
