MITRE is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as Senior Analyst for the Missile Defense Capability Assessment team as part of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). MDA's mission is to develop, test, and field an integrated, layered, Missile Defense System (MDS) to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends against all ranges of enemy ballistic missiles in all phases of flight. The missile defense capability assessment team is an independent, non-advocate organization of the MDS that is responsible for assessment of the integrated capabilities of the MDS and recommendations on system improvements. This position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with a team of highly technical analysts and researchers to ensure success of the fielded systems by the agency.
Technical knowledge of missile defense elements such as Sensors, battle management, and interceptors is a plus. Someone at a level 3 with about 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, programming background in MATLAB, Python. Experience the ground test / flight test data analysis preferable.
Key Functions:
- Modeling and Analysis of Missile Defense elements such as Space Systems, Radars, Command and Control, Battle Management and Interceptors.
- Ability to develop analysis to advise the sponsor of capabilities and limitations of the MDS
- Work within a team of engineers and analysts to examine ground test and flight test data
- Develop analysis tools as well as models as needed to examine system behavior
- Ability to serve as staff member producing differentiated products that align contribute to sponsor outcomes
- Work closely across team members that include Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs)
- There is an opportunity to develop into a subject matter expert and take on leadership roles
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step
- Minimum of 3 years of missile defense analysis, test, or development experience
- Active Secret clearance
- Proficiency in understanding of the MDS elements such as Space Systems, Radars, Command and Control, Battle Management and Interceptors.
- Proficiency in analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python
- Skill in oral communication, experience briefing sponsors
- Skill in written communication, development of white papers and briefings
- Experience with FFRDCs or UARCs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of missile defense analysis, test, or development experience
- Development of the BMDS elements such as Space Systems, Radars, Command and Control, Battle Management and Interceptors
- Experience with development of MDS modeling and simulation
- Experience with BMDS radar programs and MDA flight and ground test data analysis
- Experience with prime contractor radar specifications and/or MDA element specifications
- Advanced degree preferred
