Job Description
Fluidra is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Tooling to join the team at our North American Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
The Mechanical Engineer - Tooling is a key member of the electro-mechanical design product design team. This position will be a member of cross functional teams for new product development, sustaining or value improvement projects. Responsibilities include translating rough concepts and ideas to manufacturable part designs, sourcing and managing tooling qualification, and tracking projects to schedule.
We are designing the next generation of smart/connected pool equipment. Our goal is to provide industry leading products that improve the experience for our customers. Additionally, you will:
- Be a leader within the engineering team in the area of tooling and manufacturability
- Participate in cross functional new product development teams reviewing Engineering releases, changes and manufacturing methods
- Key member of engineering design team to ensure design manufacturability
- Work closely with Purchasing department on make/buy analysis, RFQ and supplier selection
- Support Quality Plan program at selected suppliers to ensure strong process controls for manufacturing and inspection
- Responsible for all aspects of new injection mold tooling including approval of DFMs, tool designs, first articles and Cpk.
- Communicate technical aspects of product design or specifications to suppliers
- Manage alpha, beta and initial production builds
- Drive improvements by reducing supplier’s line defects, field returns and warranty costs using root cause analysis, statistical analysis and corrective action programs
- Interface with value streams to solve quality problems
- Support Engineering sustaining and Quality improvement projects
- Travel to suppliers domestically and internationally
WHAT WE SEEK
- 5 + years of plastic injection molding and tooling experience focusing on tooling and manufacturing
- Practical knowledge of production processes including assembly, plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication and electronics
- Working knowledge of inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques
- Capability of handling multiple projects within a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Positive personality that can communicate with all levels of the organization
- Proven track record of accomplished projects with increasing responsibilities
- Global manufacturing experience, especially in S.E. Asia countries and Mexico is preferred
- SolidWorks or other 3D CAD experience is preferred
- Moldflow or similar software experience is preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Expected salary range is $85,000 - $125,000. Fluidra offers a comprehensive total rewards / benefits program that includes base salary, annual bonus based on performance of individual and company objectives, competitive 401K matching, paid vacation and sick time, full range of health benefits, educational assistance, etc. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and location.
