Mechanical Engineering Technician

Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team in Waltham, MA.  In this role,   you will assist the R&D team in the development of a robotic medical device through design, testing and assembly of prototypes, as well as help maintain the 3d print lab, mechanical testing machines and prototype assembly area.

As a technician you will work side by side with other members of the mechanical group.  You will be part of the problem solving effort to develop complex assemblies used for surgery.

Responsibilities:

• Assist  Mechanical Engineering group in
• Test method development, execution and documentation
• Fixture development
• Assembly of prototypes
• 3D printing of fixture and component parts 
• Manage the 3D printing room and apparatus (Formlabs and Ultimaker)
• Manage Force Testing Machines (Instron and Mark-10)
• Management of Mechanical Tooling (Calipers, drills, force guages, etc.)
• Working with Model shop in the procurement of machined parts

About You

• Technical Certification, Technology Degree or equivalent work experience
• 2-3 years of medical device assembly experience in a GMP/ISO 13485 environment or Robotics environment preferred 
• Ability to work with a variety of hand tools power tools, fixtures and benchtop Manufacturing
• Experience with stainless steel, Aluminum, or plastic would be a plus
• Strong soldering skills, ability to solder under a microscope
• Basic experience with Solidworks
