Purpose
The Media Blast Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the walk-in blast booth and related media blasting processes. This role requires a high level of expertise in ensuring consistent and high-quality surface preparation according to specifications. The Specialist will also perform routine equipment checks, provide training to junior technicians, and coordinate with vendors for supplies and equipment maintenance.
The Role
1.Media Blasting Operations:
Operate the walk-in blast booth for media blasting processes.
Ensure consistent and high-quality surface preparation according to specifications.
Adjust and control the blasting parameters to achieve desired surface finishes.
2.Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine checks and maintenance of blasting equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
3.Training and Development:
Provide operational and maintenance training to Level 1-4 Media Blast Technicians.
Mentor junior technicians to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices.
4.Supply Management:
Maintain an inventory of blasting media, protective gear, and other necessary supplies.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
Evaluate and recommend new materials and equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
5.Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to media blasting operations.
Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for media blasting processes.
6.Documentation and Compliance:Â
Follow the Divergent Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for documentation of all work performed.
Ensure proper documentation of processes, maintenance, and any deviations.
Basic Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in a related field preferred.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in media blasting or a related field.
•Extensive knowledge of media blasting techniques, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
•Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent communication and training skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
•Proficiency in using computer software for inventory management and maintenance records.
Work Environment
•Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
•Capability to lift and carry 75lbs., heavy equipment and materials.
•Comfortable working in environments with exposure to dust, noise, and other industrial elements.
•The role requires working in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures.
•Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
