Media Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager
Job Description
The Media Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager plays a key role in informing and promoting Intelsat's Media business, with three main areas of responsibilities:
- Market Intelligence: Track key Media market trends and dynamics and share insights with internal stakeholders.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor key players and competitive offerings within the Media eco-system and support the development of compelling competitive positioning.
- Thought Leadership: Lead the creation of thought leadership material, including regional Media whitepapers, to promote Intelsat's external brand and educate internal teams.

MARKET INTELLIGENCE
- Assiduously track, record and report on the evolution and trends of the Media industry including, but not limited to:
- Programmers' linear distribution and digital streaming strategies
- Media business models (linear, streaming, subscription or ad-based)
- Content delivery mechanism and business models (satellite cable or broadcast/DTT distribution, DTH), content delivery networks
- New technologies (cloud, 5G, compression, etc.)
- Content delivery to mobile networks and new edges (planes, ships, cars...)
- Identify and track regional specific market dynamics and how they translate into pain points/needs for Intelsat customers in each region
- Based on your deep understanding of Intelsat's current Media product portfolio and long-term roadmap, identify threats and opportunities at short/medium/long-term
- Share insights and actionable recommendations with relevant internal groups such as the Media BU, Sales, Yield Management, Product Development, Corporate Strategy
- Through knowledge and actions, position yourself as a Media expert and a go-to resource for Sales and other internal groups involved with the Media business.
COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE
- Monitor key players within the Media eco-system (competitors, customers, influencers, technology vendors, partners...):
- Track market movers
- Identify potential partners and competitors
- Leading indicators for competitive threats or market opportunities
- Provide Media BU Management with regular insights to inform the Media strategy and product roadmap.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop Media market insights and competitive differentiators that will feed our messaging and positioning in each region and for key customer segments
- Develop a centralized database for competitive pricing based on internal and external sources
- Pu sh relevant information to Sales, Pricing and Deal Management teams to help optimize Media rate card and pricing approval process
- Analyze key deal wins and losses from a competitive standpoint and push lessons learned and recommendations to Sales, Product and Commercialization Managers.
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
- Communicate internally and externally on key Media topics to raise internal awareness and position Intelsat as a thought leader in the wider Media industry
- Drive the creation of quarterly whitepapers on regional media markets leveraging data, analytics, competitive intelligence and industry trends with the aim to support satellite's and Intelsat's role
- Push insights and provide training to internal stakeholders on key trends and white paper contents (relevant material, seminars, integration with internal CMS)
- Assist in the creation of external thought-leadership social media content and publications, such as Intelsat's Media Market Watch, leveraging key insights from internal whitepaper
- Support the articulation of the Intelsat Media long-term vision by providing wider market context and competitive data points.
You should definitely have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business (or equivalent amount of education/work experience), with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Extensive understanding and experience in market intelligence and/or competitive intelligence in the Media industry with ability to understand the big picture and to discern market trends, commercial and technology evolution
- Understanding of business models relevant to the Media industry (subscription, advertising, licensing, content delivery, etc.)
- Writing thought leadership material relevant to the Media industry
- Ability to develop and communicate effective ly with different audiences (commercial, technical, executive)
- Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
- Must be proactive, autonomous and self-motivated
- Must be a strong thought leader to drive brand presence improvement and internal awareness about the value of Intelsat's Media business.
