What you will be doing in the role of a Media Partnerships Manager

The Media Partnerships Manger will be responsible for supporting the marketing communications team at Susan G. Komen by managing the national and local, paid, and donated media partnerships for the organization. The Media Partnerships Manager will be required to create a systematic, process-driven approach to partner outreach and relationship management across all media channels. There will be a strong focus on building and maintaining multi-branded partnerships and activations for traditional and new media such as digital partnerships, print and publisher partnerships, TV and radio partnerships and event sponsorships.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Public Relations and Communications, the Media Partnerships Manager will identify and source media partnership opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails, and client meetings. The manager will research partners, identify key players, generate interest, manage contracts and agreements, and negotiate and finalize deals in accordance with Komen's contract guidelines and policies.

The manager will collaborate with marketing communications teammates, community development and corporate partnerships to align our internal goals with new and existing media partner relationships. The manager will be responsible for negotiating and leveraging media partnerships to include donated and possible paid news segments, social media opportunities, digital ads, event emcee support and other opportunities of paid and donated media for fundraising programs and events on the local and national level. The manager will be responsible for keeping ongoing going relationships with media partners and offering new ways to grow the partnership.

What you will bring to the table

As a media partnerships manager, you will project manage the end-to-end delivery of branded content partnerships ensuring campaigns run smoothly on time, and deliver agreed KPIs.

You will need to build trusted media partner relationships and work with internal teams to negotiate donated media opportunities, deliver innovative responses to briefs and negotiate competitive rates for paid opportunities.

  • Solicit and close new content partnerships which are structured to support Komen by delivering sponsored exposure of Komen's brand, events, and programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both new and existing media partners to negotiate and obtain donated media opportunities and possible paid opportunities including news segments, social promotion, speaking engagements, digital ads, traditional ads, advertorials, emcees for events for local and national programs and events.
  • Proactively explore and source potential news media partnership opportunities with major media platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help guide strategies and programs with internal and external teams for media and brand campaign opportunities.
  • Responsible for deal negotiations, agreements and onboarding of new media partners and manage existing partners.
  • Skillful and respectful negotiator with excellent client management competence, able to obtain incremental results from stakeholders while developing those relationships.

  • Previous working experience as an Outreach and Partnerships Manager for a minimum of 5-7 years
  • Strong understanding of the news media markets locally and nationally
  • Proven success in delivering successful branded content partnerships with traditional and digital media
  • Wide-reaching and strong knowledge in partnerships and sponsorships
  • Strong relationships with media partners
  • Strong creative, project management, task delivery skills
  • Excellent detail-orientation, organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, persuasive and negotiation skills
  • Networking aptitude and strategic thinker
  • Minimum of BA/BS in Marketing, Communication or similar relevant field
