Media Planner - Japan (Freelance)
Job Description
R/GA is seeking a skilled Media Planner to join our Tokyo office as a freelancer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing media plans that effectively meet the strategic objectives of our clients. The Media Planner will work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure media campaigns are innovative, targeted, and deliver measurable results.
Responsibilities
Media Strategy Development
- Collaborate with the Strategy team to develop and execute comprehensive media strategies that align with client objectives and target audience behaviors.
- Conduct market research and analyze media consumption trends to inform planning decisions.
Client Management
- Present media plans and strategies to clients, addressing their needs and concerns.
- Provide regular campaign performance reports and insights to clients.
- Build strong relationships and engage clients on day-to-day operations.
Media Planning, Buying & Campaign Management
- Create detailed media plans outlining media mix, budget allocation, and scheduling.
- Negotiate with media vendors to secure the best rates and placements for advertising.
- Drive strategic and tactical innovation and execution across digital buying/marketing tools and channels/platforms such as via Social, Print, Broadcast, and Mobile in nature.
- Work closely with creative, client services, and data analytics teams to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
- Monitor campaign performance and optimize in real-time to maximize effectiveness.
- Coordinate with internal teams to leverage best practices and resources.
Performance Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze campaign data to assess performance against objectives.
- Conduct data analysis for competitorβs media activation, target audience insights, channel recommendation via media tools.
- Prepare detailed reports and provide actionable insights and recommendations for future campaigns.
Requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Prior experience in devising brand strategies and equipped with consumer insights skills as a strategist is greatly advantageous.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in media planning tools and software.
- Familiarity with digital marketing platforms and programmatic advertising.
- Strategic thinker with a creative mindset.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Japanese and English is required.
- Able to work as a freelancer and may be required to be in our office from time to time.
