We’ve experienced tremendous growth in the last few years and are now bringing on a Medical Biller to help support our billing team. 

The Role:

The Remote Medical Biller has a deep understanding of the claim cycle- from scheduling to final payment- both from a process and workflow but also from a technical perspective. You can use data to identify trends and inform process improvement. In this remote role you work independently with high integrity and strong communication. As we build this function you are comfortable with ambiguity, special projects and being held to high performance standards. You approach mistakes as learning and are driven by curiosity to find the root of a problem. You understand that manual workflows proceed automation and are willing to perform high volume repeat tasks at industry standard accuracy. You bring professionalism to your partnerships with your direct team, clinicians, executive leaders and more. 

In this small team you have a range of tasks.  You provide great customer service to our patients, manage revenue receipts and work claim denials. You take ownership of your tasks and are willing to go the extra mile with helping out a team member, working occasional overtime or experimenting with your team on a new process. 

Job duties include:

  • Claims management (filing, fixing errors and working denials)
  • Payment posting and reconciliation (working with bank receipts, paper and electronic payments and balancing activities including daily and monthly batch closing)
  • Patient billing (phone calls, statements and escalations)
  • Eligibility and network verifications
  • Managing inbound medical record requests
  • Responding to third-party vendor requests for carrier and coding details
  • Answer billing questions from stakeholders across the org
  • Write and manage SOP’s
  • EDI enrollment work
  • Work closely with our credentialing and coding experts
  • Special projects
  • Some QA work on billing-related tasks

Skills

  • Understand billing and coding best practices
  • EMR and PMS system experience
  • Payment posting and lockbox/bank reconciliation
  • Customer service (patient calls and account management)
  • Familiarity with provider portals for both claim status and patient eligibility verification
  • Medicare billing
  • Familiar with EDI formats (837/835/270/271)
  • Strong ability to read a payer EOB/ERA and work through denial reasons
