ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Escort patient to a treatment room when requested, observing vital signs and report findings.

• Obtain vital signs, when requested and report findings immediately to the registered nurse.

• Must have broad knowledge and skills related to the developmental stage of pediatric, adult and the special needs of the geriatric population.

• Assist in patient preparation for exam and treatment.

• Assist in resuscitation efforts under the direct supervision of the RN and Physician.

• Assist the RN with special procedures by supporting the patient and assisting with positioning.

• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed with attention to safety and patient comfort.

• Clean and stock treatment rooms each shift with appropriate supplies and linens.

• Understand and adhere to universal precautions and blood fluid and blood fluid precautions by the appropriate use and disposal of personal protective equipment.

• Perform ureteral catheterization on male or female patients under the direct supervision of the RN and with attention to sterile technique.

• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• One or more years' emergency department experience preferred.

• Experienced Paramedic/EMT in the EMS field preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
