MEO Missile Warning & Tracking Communication Subsystem Engineer

The Space Systems Group (SSG) serves as the technical and programmatic advisor to the United States Space Force's (USSF's) Space Systems Command (SSC) for acquiring, developing and fielding capabilities for the United States Space Command and joint warfighter as well as to maintain America's comprehensive military advantage in space.
As the Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) Missile Warning, Tracking & Defense Communication Subsystem Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the transition to a new Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) MEO/LEO architecture. You'll guide USSF MEO acquisition on MW/MT/MD and focus on overseeing multiple spacecraft communication and crosslink subsystem design, development, integration and test activities. This job entails providing both technical and programmatic support to acquisition and development to align the current Missile Track Custody Demo systems toward a successful Epoch 1 Initial Warfighting Capability (IWC) MEO constellation, and planning for follow-on Epoch increments.
Work Model: Telecommuting is possible 1-2 days per week depending on the needs of the program and customer.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver technical expertise to the Government's SSC Resilient MW/MT/MD Acquisition Delta space segment program manager and staff
- Interact regularly with Government customer leaders, SETA contractors, multiple development contractors, and other collaborators across the Missile Warning/Tracking community to align space vehicle communication system development and CONOPS with operational needs
- Conduct technical review of design artifacts and support integration of key elements to support communication system development and rapid fielding
- Evaluate different communication system architectures, hardware design maturity, link margin analysis, and drive the successful implementation of the space-to-space and space-to-ground CONOPS
- Actively support the execution of the program Digital Engineering (DE) strategy and assist in systems engineering processes to integrate MBSE models with mission level modeling and simulation
- Shepherd Aerospace's experts toward providing our customer with objective, data driven assessments
- Engage with MEO and LEO space, ground, and system engineering activities to support the overall program execution and delivery timelines
- Quickly assess risk, schedule, and cost trades to enable timely delivery of space vehicle capabilities, while meeting mission objectives
What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical subject area
- Typically 8 years engineering/scientific experience with significant teamwork, acquisition planning, analysis, and development of national security space systems including familiarity with MBSE and digital engineering
- Accomplishments developing spacecraft communication subsystems to include expertise in architecting, communication analysis, integration and testing
- Ability to assess and integrate communication subsystem design elements relating to radio frequency and laser communications as part of crosslinked architecture solutions
- Collaboration skills to efficiently and effectively build links with customers and partners
- Active Top Secret / SCI clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to acquire a security clearance
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$103,285 - $168,019 - $232,752
