Event Overview

Mercari Women Hackathon in India: A premier event designed to unite female engineering students and professionals across India. This initiative encourages collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving through technology, all while promoting diversity and empowering women in tech. Participants will gain opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional growth, perfectly aligning with Mercari's mission of creating global value.

We are excited to invite 30 talented female students to participate in our inaugural Hackathon in India!

Location: Mercari Office, Bangalore, India

Seats: 30

Schedule

- October 18th: Travel to Bangalore

- October 19th: Hackathon Day 1 (Bangalore office)

- October 20th: Hackathon Day 2 (Bangalore office)

- October 21st: Return travel

**Note:** A detailed schedule, including a travel itinerary, will be shared with selected participants during the online briefing on September 30th.

Application Details

Application Period: July 15th – August 15th, 2024

Selection Process: Skill test on HackerRank followed by document screening by Mercari’s Engineering Manager

Selected Participants: will be announced starting mid-September by email.

Qualifications

Required experience : 

- Indian national, currently an engineering or computer science student graduating between March 2025 and March 2027. (Foreign national students are not allowed to participate in this hackathon ) 

- Ability to travel to Bangalore from October 18-21

- Own a computer for use during the Hackathon

- Development experience in one or more of the following technologies: Go, PHP, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, Swift, Kotlin, Kubernetes, GCP, Nginx, etc.

- Teamwork experience (e.g., hackathons, school club projects)

Preferred experience:

- Ability to design and develop scalable and high-performance products

- Knowledge of object-oriented software development, networks, and memory management

- Experience with software testing (unit, feature, E2E)

- Familiarity with networks, Linux, monitoring systems, logging, and operations

- Experience with microservice architecture and cloud development (GCP or AWS)

Additional Information

Mercari will cover travel, lodging, and meal expenses for the duration of the Hackathon, adhering to specific reimbursement conditions.
