Job Description

Join a movement in which everyone can win. We started a movement in which everyone can win - shoppers, retailers, society and every person on our team. To play fair, trust people and reward them for doing the right thing. We see and feel the impact of our work as more and more people gain financial freedom and retailers grow across the globe.
Founded five years ago in Sydney, Australia, Afterpay has over 11 million active customers globally and more than 64,000 of the world's best retailers around the world including Anthropologie, Revolve, DSW, GOAT, Finish Line, Levi's, Mac Cosmetics, Ray-Ban and many others. Afterpay is on a mission to power an economy in which everyone wins.
Afterpay is completely free for customers who pay on time - helping people spend responsibly without incurring interest, fees or extended debt. Afterpay empowers customers to access the things they want and need, while still allowing them to maintain financial wellness and control, by splitting payments in four, for both online and in-store purchases. Afterpay is deeply committed to delivering positive outcomes for customers. We are focused on supporting our community of shoppers.
We trust in the next generation and share a vision of a more accessible and sustainable world in which people are rewarded for doing the right thing.
The Team
Join Cash App's world-class Risk organization to support onboarding merchants onto the Afterpay platform! As a member of our Merchant Onboarding team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and seamless experience for merchants. Your responsibilities will include reviewing new merchants, assessing potential risks associated with their onboarding, and taking appropriate actions in line with our policies. Our goal is to revolutionize the merchant experience through automation and efficiency, explore new verticals, and maintain a vigilant approach to securing our future.
The Role
We are seeking an operations professional with a solid understanding of compliance, credit, and/or fraud analysis who is dedicated to meeting both internal and seller-facing service-level agreements. Ideally, you are eager to learn and identify areas for improvement while contributing to key initiatives that drive our team forward. If you're excited to apply your skills in innovative ways to help Afterpay grow our annual processing volume and prevent loss-related disputes, and if you are passionate about Block's mission of Economic Empowerment, you may be a great fit for our team!
You Will

  • Conduct reviews of new merchants requesting access to the Afterpay platform.
  • Utilize internal policies to guide onboarding decisions.
  • Analyze risks associated with various merchant business models.
  • Collect and review necessary documentation to assess and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal partners, including other Risk teams and Compliance, as well as various levels of management.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to key projects and initiatives.

You Have

  • 1+ years of experience in compliance, credit, fraud, underwriting, finance, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguity comfortably.
  • Accountable team player committed to achieving collective goals and serving our customers effectively.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to contribute new ideas, learn from others, and mentor peers.
  • Efficient time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
