Summary

The Merchant Services Account Representative I acquires new merchant services clients through conducting sales activities as a result of referrals received from the BOKF commercial and treasury management teams. In this position you will participate in and provide periodic merchant services training to BOKF commercial and treasury management teams. This includes virtual calls and in market in person visits. This position will keep current on banking regulations, industry rules, economic and business trends, technology and customer's need in order to keep existing customers apprised of new, revised and/or expanded services and handle customer requests for these services.

Job Description

The Merchant Services Account Representative I acquires net new merchant services clients through conducting sales activity as a result of referrals received from the BOKF commercial and treasury management teams. They will cold call prospects to add new merchant services clients. Prospecting and selling activity will be to actively market the TransFund merchant payment processing solutions i.e., credit and debit processing solutions for Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express, TeleCheck and all other future go to market payments processing solutions that are developed. Support, educate and maintain a strong partnership with the BOKF commercial and treasury management teams to ensure they understand the merchant processing industry. Additionally, activity will include developing complex pricing and processing proposals, training and educating prospects on all aspects of the merchant processing business.

How You'll Spend Your Time

• You will develop new merchant business by prospecting, cold-calling, responding to outside inquiries and interbank merchant referrals. Assess merchant needs, negotiate contracts, recommend equipment (method of transmission or equipment operations), provide a customized quote for merchant payment processing including discount rates and fees.
• You will effectively monitor and manage merchant portfolio's operating performance and financial condition. Complete reviews of fraud and credit risk analysis quickly assessing and proactively identifying fraud and credit risk issues that could result in financial losses. Proactively identify fraud schemes.
• You will ensure new businesses are priced properly and do not pose a risk of fraud or loss to the organization. Follow up with new merchants to ensure they are processing and resolve any potential issues.
• You will participate in and provide periodic merchant services training to BOKF commercial and treasury management teams. This includes virtual calls and in market in person visits.
• You will actively manage collections of past due amounts and timely closing of undesirable relationships. Cross-sell/refer bank products and services to customers and prospects.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree and 3+ years of experience in merchant payment processing industry or equivalent experience of 7+ years in a closely related field.

• Thorough knowledge of merchant payment processing systems, Visa/MasterCard/Discover rules, merchant debit and credit card products, customer account management and bank operations/accounting
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications skills with ability to prepare and deliver complex and technical presentations
• Strong MS Office skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to apply sales techniques and to negotiate and close business deals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail
