Messenger

Transport patients, blood products, specimens, and medical equipment throughout the Montefiore Medical Center in a safe and timely manner. Utilize transport equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers) when transporting a patient.

All patients will be discharged to the lobby by a caregiver or other support person. Messengers do not perform curbside patient discharges but they may use their discretion to go beyond the front entrance of the lobby depending on weather conditions or if the patient asks them to do so.

Utilize the appropriate body mechanics when assisting the medical staff in transferring the patient to and from the stretcher to bed or wheelchair to bed.
Follow the directives of the medical staff leading to the transfer of the patients to the transport equipment and any directive in the line of the transfer.
