Metallurgical Engineer

Job Duties:

• Perform analysis on returned products in a timely manner, documenting analysis work and preparing technical reports
• Develop new steel chemistries and grades for special R&D projects and/or new products
• Perform lab testing and design qualification test programs/documentation of new chemistries
• Assist senior metallurgist with assigned production/product investigations
• interface with engineering, sales, and field services on special projects
• Assist in metallurgical evaluation of heat treat processes in a production environment to achieve proper steel properties required for specific material grades used for drill pipe and drill stem accessories
• Evaluate chemistry substitutions to determine acceptance of non-specified pipe chemistries
• Coordinate the testing of NACE samples for sour service products

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant science related field
• Working knowledge of metallurgical testing equipment used for destructive testing and material evaluation including sour service material
• 1-5 years of experience
