Job Description
The Welding Engineer or Metallurgist assists the QTS group in scheduling and conducting Hard Band training, evaluations, Hard Band process audits and liaising with the Hard Band product line manager in technical aspects of the Hard Band product line. Reports to the VP QTS.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules, trains and evaluates Hard Band operators, both classroom and OJT.
- Liaise with product line manager relating to technical aspects of product testing.
- Assists with resolution of failures and other types of customer complaints.
- Assists with writes, reviews or creating of hard banding procedures, WPQ and PQRs as needed.
- Keeps track of upcoming or overdue Hard Band operator re-qualifications as needed.
- Assists QTS personnel and other management with resolution of failures and other types of customer complaints.
- Performs internal audits (Quality and Process) and conducts Hard Band training courses, as necessary.
- Interfaces with Inspection/Coating location facility management / personnel and customer representatives, as applicable.
- Interact with Engineering on new equipment design, acceptance and evaluate equipment to meet industry requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Welding or Metallurgy and a minimum of 5 years' experience in hard banding/welding technology.
- Not mandatory but a plus: ASNT and/or ISO 9712 NDT Level II or III in Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing and Ultrasonic Testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to effectively train/audit others.
- Approximately 50% domestic/foreign travel required.
- Excellent computer literacy.
