Job Description
Team: IT
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Meteorology Software QA based in Romania.
This role combines quality assurance expertise with real-world meteorological understanding to help ensure the accuracy and reliability of a live weather visualization platform. You will work on an interactive web-based application that delivers real-time weather insights, including radar data, storm tracking, and map-based forecasting tools. Unlike traditional QA roles, this position requires domain awareness in meteorology or a strong passion for weather systems, enabling you to detect subtle inconsistencies in data representation. You will collaborate closely with developers to test new features, validate fixes, and improve overall usability. The environment is highly dynamic, with opportunities to participate in live testing during active weather events. This is a remote-first role that values curiosity, precision, and a strong connection to real-world weather phenomena.
Accountabilities
- Perform manual testing of a web-based weather visualization platform, ensuring features such as radar layers, storm tracking, and forecasting tools function accurately and reliably.
- Validate the correctness and consistency of meteorological data displays, identifying discrepancies in how weather information is rendered or interpreted.
- Participate in live testing sessions during active weather events to assess system behavior under real-time conditions.
- Log, document, and clearly communicate bugs, anomalies, and usability issues to development teams for resolution.
- Collaborate with engineers to verify fixes and ensure improvements meet both technical and user-experience expectations.
- Provide domain-informed feedback and suggestions to improve weather data visualization and end-user interpretation.
- Background as a student or professional in meteorology, climatology, environmental sciences, or a related weather-focused field.
- Alternatively, strong self-taught expertise in weather systems, radar interpretation, forecasting models, and storm tracking.
- Active user of weather applications and familiarity with different meteorological data sources and tools.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect subtle inconsistencies in visual or data-driven systems.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to document bugs and issues clearly in English.
- Comfortable working with web applications, browsers, and cross-device testing environments.
- Nice to have: familiarity with QA methodologies such as exploratory or regression testing, and basic understanding of APIs or data feeds.
- Fully remote, flexible work environment allowing you to work from anywhere.
- Hourly compensation with rates based on experience and skills.
- Paid training and opportunities for continuous professional development.
- Consistent flow of engaging and challenging QA tasks in a specialized domain environment.
- Flexibility to choose working hours and align work with your personal schedule.
- Exposure to cutting-edge weather visualization technology and real-time data systems.
- Annual performance-based pay increases recognizing diligence and contribution.
