Metrology Technician

About Us:

Mantle Inc. is bringing manufacturing back to local communities through metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) that is an order of magnitude less complicated and lower cost than existing printers. Today, popular metal 3D printers cost a million dollars or more, using complicated high-powered lasers and controlled atmospheres. At Mantle, we're taking an entirely different approach that uses proprietary materials science and machine design to make metal 3D printing easier, simpler and less expensive than previously imaginable. To put it simply, we believe our technology will fundamentally change how metal parts are made.

Mantle's office is located in San Francisco, CA. 

Your Role:

As a Metrology Technician, you will utilize experience working with metrology equipment to improve characterization of Mantle’s 3D metal printing technology.  Mantle is looking for a technician to contribute to improvement of best practices for measurement studies to support process development, supplier qualification, and responding to customer feedback.

Tasks include:

• Provide metrology support for the development and validation of Mantle’s metal 3D printing technology, which may include CMM, OMM, structured light scanning, or other equipment to characterize part features and equipment components
• Review designs and test methods for research and development studies to ensure compatibility with available metrology options
• Data analysis and reporting of metrology results. Monitor and escalate any observed shifts in process measurements.
• Perform gage calibration and maintenance of metrology instruments as prescribed by the manufacturer or internal control process, maintain calibrated artifacts inventory, and escalate issues with the equipment
• Support development and maintenance of metrology process documentation
• Train new staff in the metrology department

Your Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years working in a metrology/quality control lab
• Familiarity with GD&T ASME Y 14.5 (2009 or 2018)
• Ability to safely work in an industrial setting, adhering to strict safety protocols and usage of protective equipment
• Highly data-driven and detailed focused
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position will interact with staff, external vendors, and customers.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable with a dynamic, growing company

• Onsite in San Francisco
