Mgr Accounting Services

THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION Primary Duties 1. Manages the efficient operation of accounting activities as they relate to the following areas: a. Accruals Accounting b. Debt and Equity Accounting c. Corporate Accounting d. Monthly Close Process e. Chart of Accounts f. Plant Accounting g. Benefits Accounting h. Compensation Accounting i. Intercompany Billing j. Cost Allocations k. Regulatory Accounting l. Payroll Processing and Accounting m. Lease Accounting n. Legal Accounting o. Insurance Accounting p. Related Parties q. Accounting for Overhead Costs r. Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for areas overseen 2. Oversee potential areas of improvement in service delivery, organizational structure, use of technology, governance structure, among others, to drive business insights. 3. Recommends and directs the design, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems related to applicable areas to facilitate the preparation of accounting reports. Oversees granting system access, user access reviews and system function reviews for the applicable systems. 4. Ensures that accounting policies and processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations as well as US GAAP. Serves as a liaison between internal and external audit processes and manages accounting projects as necessary. 5. Interfaces with various departments throughout the Company including, and not limited to: Finance, Rates and Regulatory Affairs, Legal, HR, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Information Technology, Treasury, Financial Reporting and Division Representatives. Maintains frequent contact with Division VPs Finance to ensure accurate accounting for transactions and proper financial statement disclosures. 6. Develops functional area budgets. Compares all shared services actual costs to budgets to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Plans and directs the achievement of area goals and objectives within established Company policies. 7. Prepare responses on behalf of the company and supports the expert witness in regulatory proceedings and rate case filings regarding the company's historical books and records 8. Develops and maintains business process policies and procedures related to applicable accounting areas. 9. Review monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for applicable accounting areas. 10. Execution of technical documentation of US GAAP Accounting Standards Codification and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Uniform System of Accounts as needed related to transactions and applicable accounting areas. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Educational/Experience Level:Master's degree in accounting, finance or business administration and five years' experience in accounting and three years of leadership experience accounting. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration and six years' experience in accounting and four years of leadership experience accounting.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation Communication Skills:Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence verbally and in writing internal and/or external customers at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature. Numeric Skills:Requires the ability to perform algebraic, and trigonometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods. Computer Skills:Requires an advanced knowledge of various software applications for creating complex documents, reports, and graphics. Physical Demands:Moderate overnight travel required. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting. Work Conditions:Works in an office environment.
