Job Description
Manager Engineering - Trial Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, scheduling, performance, and success of Ingalls Shipbuilding countdown, In-port and at-sea trial programs.
Responsibilities include: planning, logistics, ship's movement, risk management, and organizational unit performance addressing all aspects of cost, quality and schedule. Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals, objectives, and company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the program's objectives and schedules. Integrates input from multiple sources including government representatives. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies and practices. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards, and executes responsibilities as Cost Account Manager (CAM) for cognizant cost center within the organization. Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors, test engineering and test and trials personnel or specialist employees. Represents the organizational unit as a prime internal and external contact on contracts and works closely with Program Managers, Ship Construction Managers, Test & Trials and Test Engineering personnel on contract and testing requirements. Conducts briefings and meetings for senior management and customer representatives. Has regular interaction with the Engineering Management, Ship Construction Management, Supply Chain, Program Management and Government Representatives
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A Master's of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 6 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience/Understanding of the Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to Ships
Underway Operations as well as Coast Guard Regulations
Marine Navigation Experience
Experience/Knowledge of Engineering Test Requirements at Sea Trials
Budget Risk/Opportunity
Surface Warfare Officer Qualification
Experience with services to support underway (Food stores, Aircraft Support, Operations Area Clearance, etc.)Experience/Knowledge of Ships Contracts
