Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill an Systems Engineering Mgr. opportunity. This is a dual role encompassing both people leadership and technical performance. This Systems Engineering Mgr- Field Engineering position is responsible for leading and developing a geographically diverse technical team, of approximately 10 people, that supports the TUAS (Tactical Unmanned Airborne Sensors). This position requires that the manager establish and maintain effective management oversight, functional management, and customer (internal/external) communication on multiple programs. Some team members work remotely requiring the manager to have exceptional organizational, communication and collaborative skills while functioning with minimal direction.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Manager Engineering will generate and evaluate engineering inputs to proposals and managing both cost and schedule performance. providing leadership and direction on activities in accordance with organization goals, facilitate team meetings, analyze problems, plan and direct tasks and provide solutions to ensure proper use of resources and assets. This position is also responsible for staffing and workload forecast; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Generate and evaluate engineering inputs to proposals and managing both cost and schedule performance
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
  • Build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must
  • Collaborate and lead a virtually a geographically dispersed team.
  • Operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction on activities in accordance with organization goals, facilitate team meetings, analyze problems, plan and direct tasks and provide solutions to ensure proper use of resources and asset
  • Operates system to augment Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operators
  • Additional responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, performance management and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area.
  • Perform software patches and updates when required.
  • Serve as the POC and liaison between field customer and the program office
  • Generate and perform training courses at customer sites
  • Perform as a champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM related field with a minimum 6 years' experience in engineering, development or support environment in industry or government experience in managing programs/projects to cost and schedule requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in managing, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams on complex technical projects.
  • Background in system troubleshooting
  • Ability and willingness to travel which could include foreign travel
  • U.S. citizen and current Secret security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Team lead or project management experience
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, individual contributors and customers
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Field Engineering experience
  • Experience in Software
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in GMTI/DMTI Radars

Salary Range: $114,200.00 - $171,200.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to basepay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO)for vacation and/orpersonal business.
