About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Engineering Manager to join our team. You will be leading one to multiple teams focused on enhancing our Virtual Vehicle web applications and SaaS product offerings.
Our stack is wide, diverse, and evolving. As an Engineering Manager, you are eager to lead and mentor teams working in multiple languages and frameworks, and contribute to future architecture decisions. You are versed in Agile/Scrum methodologies and are comfortable with giving and taking technical direction.
Our primary business logic is primarily TypeScript, Node/Express, AWS Microservices.Β Our web front ends utilize Vue. There is some legacy PHP.Β Finally, many of our APIs interact with Android clients, so any mobile development experience and knowledge of modern Android frameworks you have is a plus.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the engineers and guide them along their career path
- Continuously improve team culture and processes to maintain productive, happy, and fulfilled engineers
- Lead implementations of Platform Science solutions, while working with Product, other Engineering teams, and Partner Developers to define any dependencies.
- Collaborate with Product in communicating dates to project stakeholders and ensuring timelines are met.
- Forge strong relationships with business, project, and technical teams, along with partners and customers,Β that will contribute to your growth and development.
- Translate steps from Platform Science business, product, and engineering teams into repeatable processes.
Experience
- 3+ years managing full stack and/or mobile engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience as a full stack or mobile software engineer
- Experience creating and/or improving development processes while reducing developer toil, and improving adherence to those processes
- Experience working with: Node, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Experience with at least one of MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB
- API Design and Integration experience (REST)
- Database design experience, with understanding of various ORMs
- A solid portfolio of experience building web services/APIs for mobile or other server side applications
- Good technical foundation with ability to pick up new skills and adapt quickly
- A commitment to software craftsmanship and best practices in unit testing, code review, design patterns, etc
- Experience building strong relationships with Product leaders and other stakeholders to ensure your team has clear vision
- The ability to review code, coach, and mentor engineers on your team
- Experience supporting and contributing to the recruiting and hiring of awesome engineers
- Proven success in on-boarding and training new engineers
- A passion for building, developing, and coaching high-performing engineering teams
- A relentless bulldozer to any roadblocks preventing your team from achieving its goals
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

This is an exempt role. Our job titles for each posting may span across more than one job level. The estimated base salary for this role is between $132,037 and $204,475. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salaries across all US locations. Compensation packages are based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, work experience, relevant trainings and certifications, business needs, market demands and specific geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
