Mid - Level 1 Cloud System Admin - Tier 2 Support

Join our team of IT Operations professionals providing support to a large group of software developers and engineers. Our IT Operations staff are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects.

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking professionals with a background in Information Technology support for an exciting opportunity as a Staff Cloud Systems Administrator with our Operations Team.

The successful applicant will;

Administer, develop, configure, implement, and maintains the systems that comprise the underlying cloud platform. Maintain public and/or private cloud systems and deploy them in an automated way; monitor, move, and alter the systems using a prescribed methodology.

Establish and implement standards for cloud operations according to specifications and parameters. Determine business needs and select and support tools to meet them. Support, re-design/re-engineer existing on-prem network, servers, and VoIP infrastructure.

Maintain and build upon existing network and domain environments. Design and implement new on-premises and cloud systems while implementing best practices and industry standards. Identify and drive opportunities to improve operational workflows. Create and maintain custom scripts using powershell, python, and bash. Create detailed documents and diagrams for all IT infrastructure.

Mid - Level 1 Cloud System Admin - Tier 2 Support Position Requirements:

• Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. Secret DoD Security Clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
• Due to the nature of work, candidates must be U.S. Citizens
• BS or higher in computer science, IT, engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience
• Must be willing to participate in On Call and weekend work as needed
• Be able to work 100% on-site, no remote work available
• Good oral & written communication skills
• Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team & department performance

Mid - Level 1 Cloud System Admin - Tier 2 Support Position Preferences:

• Vulnerability management
• Intermediate knowledge, Systems Administration
• Intermediate knowledge, Linux/Unix
• Intermediate knowledge, Windows Server management
• Linux and Windows OS experience
• Application and Web Server management
• Experience managing and supporting Atlassian suite of applications
• A+ or equivalent certification
• AWS Cloud Certification
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, problem solver

Team Information:

The successful applicant will become a member of an IT Operations team that provides tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 level support to several programs external to ARA. This applicant will support external users of cloud-hosted systems, including supporting and managing the systems themselves. The team has a close relationship with the Engineering teams also deploying these environments.
