Mid Level Scientist/Engineer

GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-level Environmental Geologist/Engineer to support our Western US environmental team, based out of either Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona. The team provides environmental services to both public and private sector clients, across a broad range of industries including aerospace, mining, energy, manufacturing, and rail transportation clients. Our work includes assessing environmental impacts and mitigating long term environmental risks through the development and monitoring of remedial systems and risk management measures. We also provide a full suite of environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance services.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Working within a team of technical specialists to deliver successful outcomes to meet clients' needs
- Developing clear and defensible conceptual site models (CSMs) for complex sites
- Preparing work plans and technical reports/presentations for meetings with clients and regulators
- Understanding of CERCLA, RCRA, state regulations, and waste management requirements
- Engaging in regular communications relating to project management and technical issues
- Actively communicating with the technical team and Project Managers
- Performing task management duties including leading scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and health & safety
- Assisting with proposals including understanding client/project needs and aligned scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Working within multi-disciplinary project teams, providing environmental advice to other GHD teams
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members in a learning and collaborative environment
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills:
- Technical delivery of environmental investigations, environmental cleanup, and EHS compliance services
- Ability to develop conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies
- Planning and implementation of field work
- Ability to develop and prepare reports for regulatory agency acceptance
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.
- Prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner
- Experience with Arizona cleanup programs (voluntary cleanup program, WQARF, and/or Brownfields) preferred
- Federal Superfund cleanup experience a plus
- Excellent communication and report writing skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong commitment to client service
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering or other discipline relevant to environmental site assessment and/or remediation
- 8+ years-experience
