Mid Software Engineer / Mid Systems Engineer (Dev/Ops)

Belay Technologies is seeking a Mid-level Software Engineer (SWE) or Mid-Level System Engineer (SE) with Dev/Ops to join our intel team. The Dev/Ops engineer will have an understanding of concepts even at the board level, be willing to jump in and take over operations-type work, diagnosing Kubernetes issues, diagnosing CI/CD issues, diagnosing application issues, and assisting customers with their deployment troubleshooting. The Dev/Ops engineer will update sections of the software, as well as simultaneously manage changes to other parts of the program. The ideal candidate shall assist team members as needed. The SWE/SE will also work across contracts to assist both front-end and back-end development and low-side environments. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will also collaborate with the customer operations team to ensure continuity. The DevOps Engineers must know how to use scripting programs such as Java. Possess interpersonal, management, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
The SWE/SE develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. The SWE/SE works individually or as part of a team. The SWE/SE reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. The SWE/SE resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. The SWE/SE provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
- Fourteen (14) years of experience as an SWE/SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Four (4) years of additional SWE/SE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Candidates are required to have the following skills:
- Development experience with:
- Kubernetes (Rancher)
- Terraform
- Ansible
- AWS
- Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira)
- Helm Chart
- GitLab
- ELK Stack
- Prometheus
- Cloud experience: Shall have 3 years of demonstrated work experience with:
- Distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, etc.
- Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.
- Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
- Serialization such as JSON and/or BSON
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
- Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
- Debug existing software and correct defects
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
- Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
- Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
- Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
- Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
- Write or review software and system documentation
- Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
- Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
- Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
- Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
- Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
- Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
- Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
- Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
- Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
- Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
