Milieu Coordinator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Monitor shift- change activities and safety huddles. Communicate to oncoming staff acuity and patients on specific precautions with treatment plan updates.
• Update and maintain safety huddles for the unit.
• Possesses a strong desire to meet the basic needs of patients.
• Maintain milieu structure by settling disputes between patients, preventing disturbances, assaults, and elopements.
• Role model early interventions, such as effective communication, active listening and limit setting, with an escalating patient.
• Respond to crisis situations as outlined by policies and procedures.
• Conduct skin checks as the second staff and review and sign off on belongings checklist at admission.
• Promotes and maintains situational awareness within the milieu.
• Assist RN and floor staff in utilizing least restrictive interventions.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards patients always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
• Respond to individual, family and guardians regarding concerns.
• Promote facility cleanliness as well as report maintenance or repair requirements.
• Perform direct care duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in behavioral health, security or corrections strongly preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required. Upon hire, certification will be provided.
• First aid required based on state or facility requirements. Upon hire, training will be provided.
