Department Summary:

The CSH Mission Operators (MO) Division is seeking a candidate who is mission-driven and naturally drawn to complex and challenging technical problems. This position plays a critical role in tackling challenges in homeland security, including: modernizing the immigration digital infrastructure, addressing climate change and social equity in emergency management and improving aviation and surface transportation security.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver products in national preparedness with a focus in one of more areas including:
    • Aviation security with an emphasis on screening technologies
    • IT modernization for TSA acquisition program with experience in architectural designs and implementation
    • Emergency management with experience in resilience, response and/or recovery
    • Immigration ecosystem, from a systems perspective
    • National-level risk modeling, using both predictive and historic models
    • Social equity in grants and assistance programs
    • Resilient IT infrastructure
    • Development of real-time situational awareness, command and control, and decision aid tools to support disaster relief efforts
    • Data analytics to support analysis and decisions in emergency management
    • Demonstrate task leadership in the development of technical deliverables and possess ability to work with multi-disciplinary system engineers from across MITRE FFRDC's
    • Under the guidance of a project leadership team, work closely with the sponsor to meet and exceed sponsor expectations and ensure MITRE deliverables meet a high-quality standard
    • Leverage technical knowledge and operational domain expertise to deliver products to the sponsor
    • Engage in work program development, share opportunities, advise project leaders and act as a thought leader for the portfolio growth areas.
    • Ability to work as an individual contributor and can step up in technical leadership role as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Must have DHS Fitness or ability to obtain it as evidenced by an existing DoD or other USG clearance
  • Bachelors in one of the following disciplines, Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering; Computer Science; Data Science; or similar technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and execute technical products in a team environment
  • Strong desire to tackle critical sponsor challenges in the areas of emergency management, aviation security and immigration
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First-hand experience working with federal homeland security organizations
