Salary: $180,000 - $225,000

York Space Systems is seeking a highly experienced, proactive Mission Chief Engineer who can excel at managing a large cross functional program, working with the customer and program management closely to ensure successful program outcomes. This role spans the lifecycle of the program from design through to mission operations. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all technical aspects of a space systems design/integration program.
  • Drive trade studies, execution of all standard engineering deliverables and milestone delivery for the program.
  • Be the main focal point for customer technical communications for the program.
  • Lead a team of systems engineers to deliver the program design and verification.
  • Support planning activities and key performance metrics for the program.
  • Communicate the mission objectives and solution with internal/external partners.
  • Work with suppliers on technical challenges to ensure the best solution is delivered for the mission.
  • Lead and work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure program success.
  • Own the technical risk and mitigation plans for your mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Systems Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a system engineer.
  • Excellent knowledge of space vehicle sub-systems and design. Extensive knowledge in payload technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering principals and best practices.
  • Strong project management and leadership (such as chief systems engineer, product lead, or lead project engineer).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills: verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Planning and organizing skillsets, including schedule contribution, cost estimation, and personnel forecasting.
  • Experience leading verification activities (planning and execution).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and techniques for eliciting and motivating team performance.
  • Engagement with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in interpreting customer (internal and external) needs and expectations.
  • Functional leadership (such as reviewing performance and providing performance feedback).
  • Proposal and technical communication/writing.
  • Experience in all phases of a program life cycle for a single program experience.
*Signing bonus negotiable depending on candidate qualifications.
